Call for Proposals

Next Deadline for Proposals: To Be Announced

The Institute of Cognitive and Decision Sciences is pleased to announce:
2011 Seed Grant Opportunities for Faculty, Students, and ICDS Project Groups.

In order to stimulate both new and existing projects and collaborations, ICDS announces the next call for seed grant proposals to be used before the end of the 2011-2012 academic year (by June 30, 2012). We expect to be able to support several proposals. These grants are specifically intended to support interdisciplinary or collaborative research, or curriculum development. We are particularly interested in multi PI projects that reach across campus and non-campus units. Those members who have received funding from ICDS in the past are welcome to apply.

Faculty grants: We hope to provide small seed grants at the $2,000 to $5,000 level and potentially provide seed funds for major projects up to $20,000. An important criterion in the review of all Faculty proposals is their potential to translate seed money into external funding. Faculty applicants must be ICDS members.

Graduate student grants: We hope to fund several Graduate Student proposals at the $1,000 to $3,000 level. These grants can be used for pilot data collection or presentation at a major interdisciplinary conference. Graduate Student applicants need to be ICDS student members or join at the time of application.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Application Deadline: April 25, 2011.
Applications will be reviewed by the ICDS Executive Committee (Josh Snodgrass, Sara Hodges, Dare Baldwin, Bill Harbaugh) and Director (Frances White). Applicants will be notified by May 20, 2011.

Applications should include:
1. Project Description: Describe the collaborative and/or interdisciplinary nature of the project, proposed participants and their organizations with contact information. We anticipate these will be 2 to 4 pages in length. In the description for faculty grants, please describe how the seed money is intended to facilitate future external funding.
2. Project Budget. Please include an itemized budget for the project. Please indicate other sources of support.
3. Statements of qualifications and/or cv.
4. For Graduate Student applicants, please provide a letter of support from your advisor or other ICDS faculty. Please ask your referee to email the letter directly to Vonda Evans at vevans@uoregon.edu

Submission: All materials must be submitted electronically as Word or PDF documents to Vonda Evans at vevans@uoregon.edu. Please include your name in the title of the documents.
Questions should be sent to ICDS Director, Frances White at fwhite@uoreogn.edu.
